SQL Data Architect  

Location: Chicago (currently 100% remote and will be until it is safe to go back into the office)  

Type: Contract to hire (6 month and convert to perm.  Since they will convert this role to permanent at 6 months candidates must be a US Citizen/green card and not require sponsorship)

Position Summary:

  • Will be helping with our largest current initiative which is an overhaul of our Panel Based Research Platform.  This is a huge Data Collection project that involves connecting to various data sources and third-party tools like Adobe. Will also be using Dynamic SQL to build Web based research surveys. 
  • Setting up database and architecting/designing for any new requirements that are coming up.
  • Will be working with different resource teams to help them out with applications.
  • Will help suggest/bring in new technologies when required.
  • Looking at automating DevOps in the near future and this Data Architect would be playing a major role in that. 

Other duties include:

  • Designing, supporting, and implementing complex systems involving integration of multiple software and hardware components.

Required Skills:

  • Expert in Microsoft SQL Server, Dynamic SQL, ETL, SSIS, database and data warehouse design and development, stored procedure development and systems support.
  • Experience with source control such as Git and/or Bitbucket, Subversion
  • Experience using Red Gate SQL Toolbelt would be good to have.
  • Experience with enterprise solutions, large datasets required.
  • Experience with Data Collection solutions preferred but not required.
  • Experience with Adobe Campaign Management and Voxco preferred but not required.
  • Experience with complex data manipulation using SQL and other data management tools, particularly Microsoft SQL Server, database and data warehouse design and development, reports development and systems support.
  • Experience with data editing and cleaning and efficient coding to deal with large quantities of data, building repeatable processes, and developing applications that integrate across multiple data stores is required.

Business Intelligence Solution Architect

Description:

The BI Solutions Architect will drive and influence all aspects of data consumption, transformation, and presentation. The role will entail gathering requirements and guiding the activities of the development team. It will require excellent attention to detail and a passion for data-driven solutions. The BI Solution Architect frequently examines functional specifications for translation into system guidelines that shape product development. This role will frequently research existing systems to align projects and devise solutions suitable to those systems. They may also meet directly with clients to demonstrate solutions, answer questions regarding software capabilities and requirements, and work to resolve issues that arise during the development cycle. The overall goal of the Business Intelligence team is to discover and build meaningful presentations of data and to streamline/simplify the efforts required to achieve the results. The goal of the BI Solution architect is to help guide the team to be success.

Responsibilities:

  • Gather requirements and specifications from clients and users during the project development lifecycle.
  • Develop project specifications using familiarity with functional requirements and knowledge of existing systems.
  • Create detailed designs for database, ETL and reports.
  • Train and coach developers on best practices with Power BI and SQL Server tools.
  • Support project development lifecycle by developing schedules and test plans, preparing documentation based on analyst reports, and assembling documents for presenting project guidelines and milestones to team members.
  • Determine/Refine Project Scope before developers begin any major work. This may require that the Solution Architect conduct extra research on a client’s existing systems and configurations to determine whether additional time, work and/or solutions are necessary to align the project with enterprise-level systems.
  • Engage directly with clients to provide feedback and updates (via calls, meetings, reports, presentations and demonstrations) on projects throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Coordinate with external vendors to develop and implement specific aspects of the software solution considering cost and timeline to ensure that vendors meet deadlines for deliverables and project elements.
  • Hands-on use of tools to prototype or proof-of-concept potential solutions.
  • Follow and in some cases enhance change management procedures for BI solutions.
  • Be passionate about solving business problems with data-driven solutions

Requirements:

  • 10 years of progressive roles within information solutions departments.
  • 8 years of experience designing and developing DW/BI applications in Microsoft SQL Server.
  • 3 years of experience designing and building reports using Power BI
  • 3 years of experience of architecting solutions for business intelligence applications
  • 3 years of experience developing reports using SSRS
  • 3 years of experience using SSMS, Visual Studio, or comparable tool.
  • Data management and data governance experience
  • ETL & ELT tool exposure such as Informatica, SSIS, Azure Data Factory (Ideally ADF)
  • Knowledge of Azure, AWS or other cloud data warehouse solutions and services

Nice to have’s:

  • Experience building reporting applications sourced from JD Edwards ERP.  
  • Understanding of ERP processes.
  • Strong exposure to sales, logistics, and financial reporting

T-SQL ETL Developer

  • Type: Contract
  • Duration: contract will run until April 2023
  • Rate: $65/hr W2 or $73/hr C2C
  • Location: Oak Brook, IL (They are currently remote until the client feels it is safe, but you would need to work onsite the first 2 weeks for training on their system.)

MUST BE ABLE TO INTERVIEW ONSITE IN OAK BROOK! (because of T-SQL coding test)

Experience:

  • 5-8 years ETL experience
  • Expert level T-SQL development skills.
  • Experience with SQL Server 2014/2016
  • Experience working with large complex data sets and multiple tables and SQL Scripts.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Duties:

  • Migrating thousands lines of T-SQL code into new SQL Server 2016 database from various data sources.  
  • Review and improve the level of existing documentation for existing SQL conversion scripts for selected tables
  • Propose ways to help improve load times for conversion scripts
